Wild stolen car chase in Winnipeg

Stolen vehicle driver took Winnipeg Police on a wild chase through the unfinished construction site, gladly no workers were at the site during that time, so nobody got injured.

Approximately at 2 a.m. on Tuesday police officers noticed a vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver decided to run away driving over a boulevard in the area of Chalmers Avenue. The vehicle then turned on the Perimeter Highway and ran through the construction site. When pursued by a few police cruisers, stolen car crashed into a ditch and the driver was immediately arrested, nobody got hurt during the pursuit, some city property damage occurred, mostly of building materials and construction equipment, that, without a doubt, will be added to charges.

The vehicle he was driving, was reported stolen from Selkirk neighborhood on September 3rd, so the thief really had it for less than 24 hours. Inside the car officers found a bag filled with prescription pads and other things stolen from several locations in Winnipeg.

The driver was identified as a 32-year-old Joseph Louis Savino, a citizen of Winnipeg. Savino now remains in custody and faces multiple charges like a vehicle and other property theft, resisting arrest, and careless driving.
