The third forum of all mayoral candidates was held with discussion of business issues

All applicants for the mayor's seat gathered together to discuss economic issues at an event organized by the Jewish Business Council on Thursday.

It was the first forum devoted exclusively to economic issues, and it is remembered from the fact that most candidates could not clearly answer questions about their economic platforms. The film director and the mayoral candidate Ed Ackerman distinguished himself more than others. However, this was not due to his program on business policy, but due to jokes and non-sequiturs.

Ed suggested spending 400 million dollars from the city budget to build so named negative toll bridge. This bridge should not collect the fare, but pay $10 to people who traveled to the North End and spent money there.

People gathered at the forum did not hear serious thoughts or proposals on the economic development of the city from him. Instead, they heard another portion of jokes and a statement that the only party he supports is one that begins on a Friday or Saturday night.

Only 3 candidates were able to answer the important question of reforming the business tax in Winnipeg. Acting Mayor Bowman and business consultant Motkaluk gave identical answers. They plan to reduce it from year to year until complete elimination, and police officer Diack is going to freeze it.

None of the candidates was able to answer the question about their innovations in the business sector and support for startups. Very little was said about the development of Winnipeg's manufacturing sector.

Note that before the elections on October 24, it is planned to hold another 7 forums and debates for candidates.
