Man charged with drug trafficking

When police pull over a vehicle for speeding, the driver will get a ticket and most likely will be on his way in 15-20 minutes, but sometimes a regular speeding case turns into a completely different story.

On September 20, Lundar RCMP pulled over a car for speeding on Highway 6 near Deerhorn Road. The driver was going 132 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. When communicating with the drive, the officer noticed a smell of marijuana from the vehicle. When asked about the smell, the driver showed to the officer a burnt joint, that didn’t go as the driver expected.

He was arrested and identified as Anthony Ross, a 54-year-old male. When officers searched the car, they had recovered 2000 grams of marijuana, that was vacuumed-sealed in clear plastic bags and in addition some cash, that believed to be the result of a drug deal.

The investigation now continues, Ross is scheduled to appear in court on November 15th. Police officers can’t explain the driver’s behavior, as if someone transporting such amount of marijuana or other illegal substance, it is really common sense to drive slow and follow the regulations to not get pulled over. They are also looking into if Ross was driving under influence, which could result in such unreasoned behavior.
