This is what Winnipeggers can do during the weekend January 25-27

The working week is coming to an end, which means it is time to think about what to do during the weekend!

Despite the cold weather, we strongly recommend not to stay home on the weekend. So, here are the most interesting ideas how all Winnipeg residents can spend time and have fun:

1. Winnipeg music venues will be full of everything from rap to thrash metal this weekend for the annual Big Fun Festival.

This fest is a great answer to Austin, Texas's acclaimed SXSW or Calgary's Sled Island Festival. Come the Good Will Social Club and see it yourself on Saturday. The performer from Montreal will be the headliners of the evening along with Toronto's Witch Prophet and Joanne Pollock from Winnipeg. The festival offers options not only in the evening. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a show for all ages on Gray Owl Coffee Saturday at 6 p.m.

This is just a piece of the entire festival program. After reading the full program, you will definitely want to visit it.

2. This weekend will bring a treat for your ears, and your eyes, through a unique concert that's part of Jazz Winnipeg's NuSounds series.

Winnipeg woodwind specialist Sean Irivne will be performing at the Good Will Social Club on Sunday. Alexandra Hasenpflug, an artist who can see the sound in colours, will join him. She created her paintings to a number of famous singers, including Paul McCartney, this time you will be able to see her picture created to the music of Sean Irivne.

The show starts at 8 p.m., tickets can be bought online.

3. Head out and listen to the ice!

The unique musician from Norway will give two shows this weekend. You may ask why he is so unique. The thing is that he plays musical instruments made of ice. Terje Isungset personally designed all musical instruments for the show.

You should definitely come to the Forks and listen to Terje Isungset. The first show will be on Friday at 7.30 p.m., the second one will be on Sunday at 7.30 pm. Do not miss!
