Lightning strike sends 13 people to hospital

Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

13 people were taken to hospital after a lightning strike during a powwow on a Manitoba First Nation. The Prairie Mountain Health Region says in an email that a large tent blew over Friday night at the Ebb and Flow First Nation. When people rushed to pick it up, lightning hit.

EMS assessed 25 people at the scene and 13 people were sent to Ste. Rose General Hospital with varying injuries.

Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Also, there was a lightning strike, that halted the train traffic and caused major delays for vehicles stuck on the area.
