Liquor Mart theft arrests

Winnipeg Police made few arrests of suspects in one crime and that revealed a list of other numerous crimes they were wanted for. There is a huge amount of thefts in liquor marts nearly 1300 reported this year, which a big increase in comparison to previous years and there are still four-month left in 2018. This statistics is at least concerning, but also show a bigger problem in the city where crime lever constantly rises and police are not capable of preventing it from increasing every year.

Monday morning police officers were following a suspicious vehicle from Notre Dame Avenue and St. James Street, later vehicle was found abandoned. Backup was called to the scene, K9 units helped to locate and arrest 5 suspects, four adults, and 1 teenager.

All suspects are facing multiple charges for possession of goods obtained by crime. But what was a big surprise is that all suspects were wanted in other crimes and theft-related cases, mostly for Liquor Mart thefts.

The youngest, a 16-year-old female was charged in connection with 38 separate thefts from Liquor Marts, during these thefts approximately $18.5 thousand worth of alcohol was stolen. Other suspects are in police custody and also facing multiple charges.
