Winnipeg transit union does not support the new ideas of the mayor

Brian Bowman expressed his desire to make certain changes and to improve the conditions for passengers that are waiting for transport on the streets of the city. In his opinion, it is much more important to provide warm conditions for people who are waiting for transport than to provide warm places for the transport itself.

However, Winnipeg transit union does not agree with such ideas, and they think that this will lead to money waste in the future. If the city wants to improve conditions, then it should allocate additional funding for this, instead of taking away warm shelters from the transport.

The mayor also promised preferential travel conditions and low-cost passes for low-income city residents.

Aleem Chaudhary informed that he wants to restore 50/50 funding program for transit that the province promised earlier, and he hopes that if Bowman becomes the mayor, he will do his best to speed up this process.

Brian Bowman also said about new programs that imply adding new buses to the streets of the city.
