Winnipeg Jets lost the game on Tuesday

Yesterday's game ended with the defeat of the Jets. They lost with the score 5-4 to Edmonton Oilers.

The first two periods of the match did not foreshadow such a result. Jets won the first period with a score 3-1, and in the second period they increased the advantage to 4-1.

Lowry scored two goals for Winnipeg in the first period, and the leader of Edmonton McDavid was able to score one goal. However, Chiarot managed to quickly regain Winnipeg two goals advantage. In the second period, Scheifele scored another goal and allowed Jets to enter the third period with a 4-1 advantage.

It seemed that the victory was already in the hands of Jets, but McDavid did not think so for sure. He scored another goal and gave two assists, having done everything possible to make his team equalize the match and pass the game into overtime. In overtime, Nurse scored and brought victory to Oilers.

This way, the leader Oilers Connor McDavid became the main character of the match, recording 4 (2 goals+2 assists) points for his performance. Three assists were made by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Without McDavid’s effective action, only one Oilers goal in overtime was made, so the 21-year-old Canadian took part in the team's first nine scored goals of the season. This is a new league record. The former belonged to Adam Oates (Detroit Red Wings), who participated in the first seven goals of the team in the 1986/87 season.

After the match, McDavid noted that the record does not matter to him. The main thing is victory, and statistics is not so important. However, Edmonton’s coach McLellan did not skimp on compliments for his captain. In his opinion, McDavid is the best player in the world at the moment and he almost alone can lead a team to victory.

Blake Wheeler, captain of Jets, expressed great disappointment about the final result of the match. He said that with a score of 4-1 it is very difficult to keep concentration because victory seems to be already secured. In his opinion, the team relaxed too early and gave the opponent a moment that they used perfectly.
