Weekend RoadWatch in Winnipeg

Impaired driving is a growing problem of Winnipeg. Driving when under alcohol or a drug influence is not just a bad decision, it also dangerous for your own safety, your passengers and people in other vehicles and on the street, not even mentioning the cost of repairs and fines as a result of a crash or a traffic stop.

Winnipeg police paired with Manitoba Public Insurance on the weekend of October 20 for the latest operation of RoadWatch, a program targeted at impaired drivers. From 8 p.m. October 20 through 4 a.m. October 21, police stopped 565 vehicles, resulting in 16 tickets. Two drivers were given standard field sobriety tests (one of them failed), and two drivers were found to be impaired by marijuana.

Fellow Winnipeggers, let’s all be careful and responsible drivers, to make we all can safely return to our families at the end of the day.
