Police bust: explosive device, forged ID cards and cheque templates

Winnipeg Police officers with a help of a bomb unit secured an item that might be a bomb and a bundle of forged and stolen identity documents, from a house in a West Elmwood area.

This raid leads to charges for six suspects. A 37-year-old Michael Roderick Allan Paquet, 29-year-old John Frank Edwards, 32-year-old Christopher Lee Chartrand, 29-year-old Jean-Claude Matthieu LaPierre, and two 39 and 40-year-old women that remain unknown were charged. Women released on a promise to appear in court few hours after arrest. All four men remain in police custody.

As per police records, additional evidence and equipment were seized, among them clear cheque templates, laptop, and printer. All suspects charged with, illegal possession of an explosive device, possession of stolen and forged identity documents, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A police spokesperson says that at this moment confiscated device is under tests. The investigation still continues, bomb unit specialists are working with a seized device, an official statement will be presented after the investigation is closed.
