We offer you three great options for the weekend of February 22-24.
1. Afro Prairie Film Festival
Of course, at the weekend you can stay at home and watch a new film on Netflix. But, there is an excellent alternative. You can go to Cinematheque for the second Afro Prairie Film Festival. The festival began on Thursday, and it will last 4 days. During the festival, Winnipeggers will be able to see more than 10 films, one of which even has an Oscar nomination this year.
Ben Williams, an organizer with the Winnipeg Film Group, explained that Winnipeg black filmmaker will also show is work on Sunday in the Exchange District theatre.

2. Ai-Kon Winterfest
If you are a fan of Japanese culture, this option is for you. This weekend you can enjoy Japanese anime and pop culture at Ai-Kon's Winterfest. The annual Ai-Kon festival takes place in summer, and on Saturday all Winnipeggers have the opportunity to see part of it.
You can meet other anime fans and get dressed in your favourite character.
The festival will run from 12 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. A ticket costs $24, for families with more than one child a ticket for each next child costs $5.
3. Threepenny Opera
If you are a fan of opera and you want to see something new and unusual, then you will like Threepenny Opera for sure.
You will see a love story where a father is against his daughter's relationship with a guy. It would seem that this is a very banal story, but there will be such incredible turns in it that you will not remain indifferent.
Threepenny Opera can be seen at the West End Cultural Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who misses the opera will also be able to see it from Wednesday to Friday next week.
