People in hospital after incident at Winnipeg’s Courts of St. James pool

The spring is here and the summer is just around the corner, many great family events are available now and even more coming to Manitoba.

Naturally, people looking for new activities, something different after the long winter, the pool sounds great and safe, but thing happen.

On Sunday, April 21st the incident occured in Winnipeg’s Courts of St. James pool.

The City of Winnipeg’s Fire Paramedic service confirmed three people had been taken from the pool to hospital in critical condition. Ages and sexes of those involved were not released. The incident happened at about 4:55 p.m.

Officers both at the scene and in the Winnipeg Police Service’s duty office on Sunday would not confirm details about the situation.

Just a couple of weeks ago the opening of a new indoor pool in Winnipeg was announced. The grand opening of a new indoor splash pad at the renovated Seven Oaks Pool.

The new features include water slides and fountains, making it the first of its kind at a city facility. The renovation that brought the splash pad to the pool also included updated family change rooms, universal-accessible washrooms, an enhanced public lobby, a new meeting place, and a small accessible teaching pool.

When planning a family trip to the pool, please make sure to bring all the necessary clothing and gear, parents need to be extra careful and pay attention to their children at all times.
