Tips & Tricks For Quilting on a Home Sewing Machine
After years of quilting Sue has developed a few skills that she would like to share. This class covers preparing your top for basting, tricks for quick easy basting, squaring off a quilt as you go, so that it is square every time, regardless of how “not so square” it may have been to start. She will show ways of manipulating fabric on those not so perfect tops to make them lay flat without causing puckers or pleats or stress. She will share her tips on getting perfect tension with every type of thread on every machine brand. Using the right size needle for the thread and fabric you are working with. Using 3 degrees of texture to achieve the perfect look for every quilt: make your borders look like they were quilted with no stop and starts without ever turning your quilt, and so much more. So, come join us and learn tips and tricks that are sure to have you smiling and saying.... No problem, I can quilt that out...
Hand out fee $7.00 per student, to be paid to instructor at the start of class.

Mandala Mania
This is a wonderful, fun, make and take project. Using stencils and a custom designed ruler, students will learn tips and tricks on ruler work and using stencils while creating their very own one of a kind Mandala Master Piece. Students are asked to arrive for class with a basted quilt sandwich measuring approximately 24 by 24 inches, with a solid dark top and 5 to 7 brightly coloured thread choices. This is a full day class that requires a ruler foot. The ruler used in class works with all domestic style ruler feet sold worldwide, including but not limited to Westerly, Country Stitchin, machine brand specific. If you or your students have any questions regarding which foot works best with their brand of machine please refer to the diagram below.
Kit Fee: 1/8 thick Mandala Ruler $40.00, or 1/4 thick Mandala Ruler $80.00 (tax included) students will also receive a hand out to take home.

Mastering The Art Of Rulers
This class will introduce you to ruler work. We will use a wide range of different rulers including curved designs, straight line designs and continue designs. You will learn which ruler works best for the design and area of the quilt you are tackling and Sue will share all her tips and tricks on using rulers safely and accurately. If you have ever wondered if rulers are the right tool for your style of quilting then this is the class for you. Come join in this class as we explore and learn to Master the Art of Ruler Work.
This class requires students attending have a ruler foot for their sewing machine. Please see the shop for purchase of this foot prior to class.
Hand out Fee: $5.00 to be paid to the instructor at the start of class.
Rulers will be on hand for students to use during this class and will be available for purchase at the end of class.

Quick Grid and Go
This class is based on one grid, one travel path and dozens of endless possible designs. We'll start off with a basic travel path and a simple everyday orange peel quilt design, then transform the path and design to create quick easy, unique, designs that will look great on every style of quilt top. This is the perfect class for all levels of quilters. Come see how stunning and easy your next quilt can be completed, with nothing more than a grid stencil, a pounce pad and an endless number of quick & easy quilting designs. Stencils and pounce pad will be supplied for students during class.

Sue Patten is not your typical quilter. Anyone who knows Sue knows her high energy, innovative designs and techniques and would tell you to expect the unexpected! Always with a story to tell and a tip or trick to share, her classes are non-stop educational and fun. Sue is an award winning longarm quilter, who has travelled throughout Canada, The United States, Europe and The UK teaching her unique and innovative styles to longarm, domestic, and hand quilters alike. Sue offers a wide variety of classes for all levels of quilters, including hands on, lecture demos, and drawing classes along with a must see, hilariously funny, trunk show. This includes everything from her hand work, to her world- renowned, award-winning thread art quilts. Sue is the author of “Quilting Possibilities…Freehand Filler Patterns” and “Adaptable Quilting Designs” published by AQS Books. Sue is a designer of fabric, stencils, machine embroidery patterns, hand embroidery patterns, red work patterns, Innovative whole cloth designs, longarm computerized patterns, hand and machine quilting designs, a thread designer and most importantly mother of three. Her work has been featured in dozens of magazines over the last 15 years and she has been featured on various TV shows such as “The Quilt Show” with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims, “America Sews” with Sue Hausmann, QNN TV’s Quilt It and “Linda Taylor’s Longarm Quilting Show”. Sue also offers a full range of training videos.
Come join us for a wonderful trunk show featuring a wide range of quilts. Sue's Trunk Show features something for everyone, hand stitching, machine quilting, longarm quilting, modern, art and bed quilts alike. Along with some of her International Award Winning Thread Art Quilts. All quilts shown will be available at the end of the trunk show for students to get up close and personal, and have no fears, tonight, it's more then OK to touch these quilts.
