Musica Poetica presents a concert of late Baroque and early Classical music for strings and harpsichord. The viola steps out of its usual supporting role in Flackton's noble viola sonata to deliver both sympathy and exuberance with steady strength. The quiet but strong harpsichord brings the "class" to "Classical" as it becomes the solo instrument in a 1760s work of deep, dignified joy by Schobert which obviously inspired Mozart. A pair of violins co-lead a poetic Corelli trio as the instruments cascade, chase, and poke each other forward through a series of flourishes that are more serious than playful. And the power of two cellos flows with focus in a finely crafted quintet by Boccherini. Zero gravity is evoked in its effortless, dancing grace.
