ABOUT RICHARD

Richard Garvey is a guitar-strumming, banjo-plucking, and sing-along-starting performer and community organizer from Kitchener. His award winning songs explore the highs and lows of love, injustice, and the marbled mess of the human condition. Whether he’s playing to a living room or an amphitheatre, Richard brings clever songs and a sly sense of humour to inspire solidarity, hope, and change. If you’re looking for the latest incarnation of world-changing, foot-stomping, and heart-filling folk music, see Richard Garvey.

ABOUT CARAVAN OPEN MIC

CaRaVaN is a weekly "Anything Goes" open mic currently in its eighth year. Music of all genres, spoken word, comedy, magic, dance, storytelling, or any other number of other unique performances could hit the stage on any given Monday. CaRaVaN regularly features artists with a wide range of skill levels -- from experienced performers trying out new things to folks taking the stage for the first time -- and we welcome them all!

Our 2019 kick-off on Monday, May 13 will also feature a special headlining set from Ontario singer/songwriter Richard Garvey from 9:45 to 10:30 PM.

Sign up each Monday at the Cube begins at 6:30 PM, with performances going from 7 to 10:30 PM. Those signing up can perform up to 2 songs (musicians) or ~5 minutes (all others). Whether you're a seasoned vet or a first-timer, we'd love to see you take the stage and show us your art! For everyone's benefit, if you have a lot of additional equipment to set up (pedals, drums, etc.), we recommend doing most of the set up on stage prior to the start of the show.

CaRaVaN is entirely volunteer-run, and is completely funded by donations, sponsorships, grants, and the organizers' own funds if needed. We do graciously accept donations to help cover our city park rental fees, sound & lighting equipment upgrades, and other costs involved in putting on 16+ open mics at the Cube each summer.
