Spring has sprung in West Central and we’re gearing up for the 20th Annual Ellice Street Festival! Come out and celebrate our community on June 7th and 8th with the West End Cultural Centre and friends!

We’ll be kicking off the festivities on Friday, June 7th with a free event in the WECC’s Ventura Hall at 8:00PM, featuring our friends from Sunshine House! Come see our space, play some BINGO with the fabulous drag queens of the Sunshine Bunch and win some great prizes generously donated by neighbourhood businesses, and hear West Central favourites JD and the Sunshine Band.

On Saturday, June 8th, we’ll be enjoying the weather and each other’s company outside all afternoon from 12:00PM to 4:00PM on Ellice Avenue between Sherbrook and Langside Streets. We are thrilled to announce our outdoor music lineup of The Lion’s Den (raucous and fun-filled family entertainment from the two Daniels of Red Moon Road), Girls Rock Winnipeg (camper bands from Girls Rock and Adult Rock Camps), Mulligrub (upbeat emo garage pop trio), Super Duty Tough Work (seven-piece hip hop supergroup), and Indian City (award winning Indigenous folk-pop band created by Vince Fontaine, founder of Eagle & Hawk)! These local bands will provide a soundtrack for all ages for the afternoon which also includes craft making, face painting, a kid’s play area, wandering performers, a merchant village largely composed of area residents, community tables, a BBQ, and more!

Consider this your invitation to join in the fun and celebration of our community. We’re so looking forward to this unofficial kickoff to summer and the chance to relax outdoors and enjoy our neighbours’ company. Volunteers are always welcome!

For more information or to get involved, please contact Jessee at the West End Cultural Centre at [email protected] or (204)783-6918. Looking forward to seeing you here at the West End Cultural Centre and on Ellice Avenue!
