Please join us for a special speaking session: Mental Health Matters - In Conversation with Craig Heisinger.
Craig Heisinger is the Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations for the Winnipeg Jets as well as General Manager of the Manitoba Moose and Senior Vice President of True North Sports and Entertainment. Throughout the year, Craig Heisinger is invited to speak at various schools, workshops and events in honour of Rick Rypien. Rypien was a former member of the Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets who battled with depression. Heisinger stood by and showed great belief in his good friend throughout his struggles.
One in five Canadians will develop a mental illness at some time in their lives. With the help of Heisinger’s presentations and the True North Youth Foundation’s Mental Wellness program, Project 11, the hope is to help end the stigma around Mental Illness, making sure no one has to ever suffer in silence.
Also, in attendance will be Aly Raposo as the special emcee for the event. Aly is a strong mental health advocate and works as the Director of Women’s and Youth Programming for Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba where she facilitates workshops, provides coping skills to at risk youth and women and is an award winning speaker. Aly sits on numerous panels to provide knowledge to health care workers, families, youth and caregivers on mental health and addictions. Aly is also an appointed citizen to the first Human Rights Committee of Council for the City of Winnipeg as well as the Vice Chair for the Equity and Diversity sub committee for the City of Winnipeg.
This session is open to everyone and is free to attend.
Refreshments will be served.
