Writer-director Rohena Gera’s Sir, set within the confines of upper-crust Indian society, tells the story of a master and a servant who fall for each other. Ratna (Tillotama Shome) is a young widow who travels from her small village in the countryside to the megalopolis of Mumbai. A wealthy family of builders hires her to serve as a chambermaid for their son, Ashwin (Vivek Gomber). Ashwin is about to get married, but the wedding is called off when his fiancee is found to have been having an affair. Left alone, working for his dad’s company and brooding around the house, Ashwin slowly develops a bond with Ratna which turns into something far beyond that of a master and servant.
