Both female composers featured on this program are familiar to Winnipeg audiences from the WSO's New Music Festival: Joan Tower was introduced in 2016 and Nicole Lizée once again just this year. From expansive sonorities in “Big Sky” to the evocative soundscapes of “Event Horizon”, these two pieces will shine beautifully alongside Smetana and Suk's intimate and passionate works.
