The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) and the Centres/Organizations within the Manitoba Region of the Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program (IRS RHSP) are pleased to partner and Honour Indian Residential School, Indian Day School and 60's Scoop Survivors in recognition of Orange Shirt Day with the message "Every Child Matters".
This event will begin at the intersection of Portage & Main with a round dance. Afterward there will be a march from there to the Oodena Celebration Circle at the Forks as part of Orange Shirt Day.
Orange Shirt Day is a movement designed to educate people and promote awareness about the Indian residential school system and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century in Canada.
In a time of reconciliation, we need to bring awareness to the general public, to understand it, talk about it and learn about it. September 30, Orange Shirt Day, has been recognized annually since 2013.
