Places for winter outdoor activities are already open in Winnipeg

The season of winter outdoor activities is considered officially open in Winnipeg.

Now city residents can have fun with many outdoor winter sports because a lot of rinks and runs are already open all over the city.

City of Winnipeg toboggan runs are open at Bunn’s Creek Park and Fraser’s Grove Park, with runs at Kildonan Park, St. Vital Park and Cresent Drive set to open in time for the holidays. A toboggan hill can also be attended at the Arctic Glacier Winter Park at The Forks.

The most popular winter activities are certainly ice skating, skiing, and snowboarding. If you are a fan of one of these sports, then you can have a great time at the following places:

Skating

Several ponds became excellent skating rinks. For example, the Riley Family Duck Pond at Assiniboine Park. Also, you can visit Harbourview Recreation Complex and St. Vital Park. There you will also find great ponds that are open from morning till night. Some of them even provide special entertainment on weekends.

Downhill skiing/snowboarding

If you like more active winter sports, then you should definitely go to Asessippi Ski Area & Resort. Also, you can visit Springhill Winter Park. However, it is better to check the working hours and days before you go there. It may be closed due to weather conditions. Stony Mountain Ski Area is another great place to visit during weekends. Holiday Mountain in La Riviere will start its work from Friday, and Falcon Trails Resort - from Saturday.

Cross-country skiing

If you are fans of this sport, be sure to visit the official website of the Cross Country Ski Association of Manitoba. There you will find all the necessary information on the trails in the province, the schedule of their work and other details.

We hope you will spend time great this holiday season!
