Winnipeg Citizens Will Have an Opportunity to Vote for Reopening of Portage and Main

This referendum was greatly supported: many people expressed their desire to go on foot in this area. In connection with this, the issue will be included in the list of issues to the ballot paper at the next civic election in the fall of 2018.

Winnipeggers will decide whether they support the idea of having pedestrian crossings in Portage and Main or not.

However, not everybody agrees with this decision. For example, Jenny Gerbasi made a statement that she is against opening pedestrian crossings. Jeff Browaty and Janice Lukes think that the decision was made too quickly, and the residents of the city just had not had time to weigh the pros and cons.
