2018 Golf tournament at Southwood

Past Sunday was a successful last day for The Players Cup at Southwood Golf & Country Club with a lot of visitors and fans, also 400 volunteers. The event was held on August 16th-19th, Mark Scheifele, professional golfer, attended tournament two days in a row and really helped with attracting public’s attention to the event as well as steering more people to visit and enjoy their time at the Cup. A lot of people volunteered as caddies, which also were a big help with events organization.

To remind you, in 2011 Southwood had some renovation done and Sunday`s event was the first big tournament since the course was remodeled.

Over 150 golfers were competing for $36,000 prize, most of the players came in from the United States to enjoy the game and hit for the winning place. Tyler McCumber, an American professional golfer, son of professional golfer Mark McCumber, a 10-time winner on the PGA Tour, celebrated his deserved victory. He spent his first professional season on PGA Tour Latinoamérica, currently plays on the Web.com Tour.

Next year PGA of Canada will mark the 100th anniversary of The Players Cup and as per Executive Director Adam Boge, the course at Southwood will be hosting such tournament next summer and in 2020.

Next big upcoming event in Manitoba golfers schedule is TaylorMade Adidas Fall Championship will take place at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club – Winnipeg with the support of The PGA of Canada on Sunday/Monday, August 26 / 27.
