Manitoba communities will get new cell towers

The problem with cell phone dead zone is finally solved in Manitoba communities.

It takes only about an hour to get to Manitoba communities from Winnipeg, but cell phone works only in some parts of the communities.

Bell MTS informed that Woodridge will get a cell tower the next week, and Zhoda and Stuartburn will get their towers in 2019.

If to go back to 2011, we can remember that Marchand community had big problems with fires because firefighters could not contact each other due to cell phone dead zones in that region. Since then, a lot of negotiations have been carried out and much work has been done to improve the situation with communication in the communities of Manitoba.

Prime Minister Pallister made an official statement and said that improving communication will improve people's safety. He also added that there are many examples when people were hurt because they could not get a call or a text on time.

The provincial government will try to solve this problem and improve the quality of communication not only in large cities but also beyond their borders.
