Stolen vehicle found in Winnipeg via iPhone

A Winnipeg woman found that the Find My iPhone service is not only useful for finding her phone, but also for finding her stolen vehicle. It is really amazing what modern technology can do these days, especially if you didn’t even know or count on certain service, but still, the device helped, like in this case with a stolen car.

A 33-year-old woman parked on Robinson Street near Flora Avenue, after which, as she told the police, two male suspects approached her and commanded her to leave the vehicle. She said that one suspect grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the car. The suspects then left the area with an SUV, which had the victim’s wallet and iPhone inside.

When the police arrived, the woman was able to activate the Find My iPhone service and track the stolen SUV in the Swinford Way and Carsdale Drive areas. The AIR1 helicopter immediately began a search in the area and discovered a vehicle on the Swinford Way.

The suspects were found and arrested, the vehicle returned to its rightful owner.

“It can be very useful,” said police spokesman, Jay Murray “It is obvious that there are certain legal difficulties when it comes to the information we receive from this service. But in this case, the iPhone was able to show us the way in the right direction.
