Rocky the dog is a fortunate guy – now he is a new member of Bell MTS Place security team.
Rocky's story could have ended very sadly because if the rescue team had not found a home for him, he would have been euthanized. However, this guy was lucky!
Rocky is a very energetic dog, so it was so difficult for the rescue service to find him a new home. When people saw his hyperactivity, they abandoned the poor fellow. A few days before he was to be euthanized, a real miracle happened. Bell MTS Place found out about him and understood that he is the one the service was looking for.
David Bessason, security dog trainer and handler for True North Sports and Entertainment, said that initially the dog was named Burt. However, after a while his wife named him Rocky after the main hero of the movie with Stallone - an underdog boxer.
Rocky's story made Bessason think a lot. Probably there are other dogs with a similar personality and they need a new home. Such dogs may have a purpose, they are not hopeless.
Colleen Holloway, a volunteer spokesperson for Manitoba Mutts, explained that Rocky came to the shelter as a stray when he was only seven months old. The organization spent many months to rehabilitate Rocky and find him a home.
Now, he is a new member of Bell MTS Place security team and this is his calling. Finally, Rocky is very happy.
