West End powered up

Who likes to be stuck in traffic? I guess, no none, but that is what you have to deal with in a big city. There are certain streets and neighborhoods you know you always will be stuck in traffic, so, naturally, people try to plan their routes avoiding such roads. What can be worse than downtown traffic with all the cars and traffic lights, well… try the whole West End with all the electricity down.

A large power outage in Winnipeg's West End had thousands of customers in the dark to start their Saturday morning. Traffic lights were also out in the area, including intersections along Notre Dame Avenue as well as Sargent Avenue. Police Cadets were on scene at busier intersections directing traffic.

There is no word at the time of publication on what caused the outage. There were 2,500 customers without power at one point.

Thankfully, now the power is back on, so all the traffic lights are working and the West End residents and businesses got their houses and stores lighted again!
