The University of Manitoba conducts numerous investigations into sexual violence and harassment

On September 5, the president of the University of Manitoba told the world shocking news that the university conducts investigations in connection with sexual crimes and humiliation of human dignity.

During a press conference for journalists, David Barnard also said that in 5 of these cases faculty ongoing is involved. Three of the investigations are related to sexual violence and sexual and personal harassment, and two more investigations were opened because of a violation of an individual's rights at the university.

Barnard also reported that during the investigation 2 university employees were suspended from work, but did not disclose other details. There were no names, no ages, no positions of members of the teaching staff involved in the scandalous cases.

David apologized to all who had already been the victim of sexual abuse at the educational institution and those who are a potential victim. He noted that the investigation can be opened regarding the behavior of any member of the university, but it is always conducted with respect to all people from all social groups.

In the light of these events, the university has already created a special educational program about these actual problems.
