The officer taken hostage in Kenora jail is back home

Kenora jail, which is located just a little over 200 kilometers east of Winnipeg, got to the headlines of all local newspapers with an “incident”, as guards called it.

Last week an unknown quantity of inmates blocked the entrance to a cell block and took one of the correctional officers as a hostage. After he was delivered to the local hospital with some injuries, doctors or officer`s colleagues share no details about what kind of injuries or what/who caused it.

As of now, there is no official statement from The Ministry of Correctional Services in Ontario. The incident is still under internal investigation, no detail on how many inmates were a part of a standoff and what kind of injuries the offices received. A ministry spokesperson couldn’t answer these questions or provide any more details as the investigation is still ongoing.

The release of an officer, who was taken hostage , to recover at home is definitely a good sign for his health, the doctors are sure in his recovery with the help of his family and fellow officers, who will be visiting him at home to show their support.
