The results of the election did not come as a surprise, however, another point was very unexpected.
The number of people who voted this year was as low as possible in comparison to other years.
So, there are about 36,675 eligible voters in Brandon. However, only 6,185 of them decided to give their voices. It is approximately 16.85 percent.
The mayor of the city commented on the situation and said that such a number of voters is very disappointing and sad.
Chrest was elected by acclamation. He said that despite the fact that it was not the election of the mayor, the number of people still was expected to be greater.
We want to remind that in 2014 there were 33,349 eligible voters, and about 44 percent of them came to voting.
