Kristian Vesalainen assigned as 1st round pick to KHL

The Jets won their first match in a tour of the Global Series in Finland by beating Florida 4-2. The hero of the match was Patrik Laine, who was marked by a hat trick in the arena in Helsinki. The return to their homeland had a very favorable effect on the right-winger of the Jets, who was able to interrupt the goalless five-match series.

Last Thursday, November 22nd the Winnipeg Jets announced that they have reassigned forward Kristian Vesalainen from the AHL’S Manitoba Moose to Jokerit of the KHL.

Vesalainen was drafted by the Jets in the first round (24th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft.

The 19-year-old winger played five games with the Jets to start the season, putting up an assist in his NHL debut. He was then sent down to the Jets farm team, the Manitoba Moose, where he posted eight points (3G, 5A) in eight games.

The Jets can’t recall Vesalainen back until Jokerit’s season is over. Jokerit acquired Vesalainen’s rights in a trade on November 15th.

The next Winnipeg Jets game is scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th vs Pittsburg Penguins, gate your tickets now if do not have it already or plane a game night with your friends and family to support our own Winnipeg team!
