Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign Jesse Briggs to a two-year contract

Our own Winnipeg Blue Bombers is a great team with a bright future and the fans show their support each and every game! The last game was a big failure for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, unfortunately, Calgary team was better and finished the game on top. The Calgary Stampeders will play in the Grey Cup game a third straight year after downing the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 22-14 in Sunday’s CFL West Division final. Eric Rogers led the Stampeders with three touchdown catches, including a 10-yard leaping grab late in the fourth quarter.

Less than 24 hours after suffering a season-ending 22-14 loss to the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Division Final, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers gathered at Investors Group Field on Monday for what is known as “garbage bag day” to clean out their lockers and answer questions about not fulfilling their goal of winning a Grey Cup, as well as what’s next.

The Bombers announced they’ve signed pending free agent Canadian linebacker Jesse Briggs to a two-year contract on Monday, December 17th.

A 28-year-old Briggs has mostly made his mark on special teams in five seasons in the blue and gold. Jesse was originally selected by the Bombers in the second round of the 2014 CFL Draft. In 87 career games, he’s recorded 56 special teams tackles and 18 defensive tackles. He appeared in all 18 games in the 2018 season and has now recorded double-digit special teams tackles in four of his five seasons in the CFL.

The Head coach and the team owners think big future for Briggs, that is why a multi-year contract was offered and signed. Great and spectacular games are waiting for us in the upcoming season.

Fellow Winnipeggers, everyone who loves and supports Blue Bombers, get your tickets early for the next game or for the whole season! Let us all come together and show our support for our city team. If you are not going to visit the game, let us plan a game night at home with friends and family!
