Sex offenders and predators are scaring people in almost every city in Canada, sexual assaults happening all the time and unfortunately, Winnipeg is not an exception.
Wednesday evening, October 24th a sexual assault happened in Charleswood‘s Harte Trail. A woman in her 40s told police she was walking on the trail near Harstone Road and Buckingham Road around 6 p.m. when she crossed paths with a man. They continued walking in opposite directions, but the woman said she heard footsteps running toward her and turned to see the man sprinting in her direction while trying to undo his pants.
Luckily for her, the woman didn’t panic, but instead knocked the attacker to the ground and started loudly calling for help, thankfully another person came along and scared the man off.
The police Sex Crimes Unit tracked down the suspect a few hours later at a residence in the 600 block of Harstone Road. He was arrested and identified as the 18-year-old Arnez Goodman. The attacker remains in police custody and faces sexual assault charges, the police are still investigating.
